A construction company in China has set a new benchmark for modular building speed. Broad Group, known for rapid construction innovation, assembled a 10-storey apartment tower in just 28 hours.
The project, called the Living Building, is designed for fast transport and easy assembly. It uses B-Core steel slabs, which are 10 times lighter and 100 times stronger than traditional concrete. These lightweight yet durable materials allow for faster and safer construction.
Every component of the building is prefabricated in the factory. The modules are compact enough to fit inside standard shipping containers. Once they arrive on-site, crews use cranes to stack and secure each unit, like building blocks.
Despite the speed, the final result is a strong, energy-efficient, and earthquake-resistant structure. This method cuts construction time and reduces carbon emissions, material waste, and labor costs.
The Living Building concept shows what’s possible with modular design. It provides a faster, cleaner alternative to traditional construction. As cities face rising demand for housing, projects like this may define the future of high-rise development.
